volunteer at pastry forum or take class

I am a first year pastry student from Canada. I had thought of volunteering at classes.... do they still need volunteers like last year? Or should I take the hands on class. One of my teachers thought I would get really great experience by volunteering . Thoughts on this. And if anyone from Carymax could let me know if they do want volunteers I would appreciate it.
