Beautiful chocolate work- Was this a competition piece? What were the results of the competition?
Your dessert plating is clean and well balanced. Your presentation makes me want to skip the entree and start with dessert.

I like the way you incorperated the swords with the heart on the pedistal. Do you have a name for this show piece? I might have made the heart a bit larger as the focal point. Tell me about how you made the swords? I really like the curves on the ba…
Kelley Elder has had a passion for baking for as long as she can remember. As a child she always had a bright smile and a positive attitude, so she was dubbed "Smile". Being called "Chef Smile" just seemed to fit her comfortably.
As the mother of two boys, Danon & Devon, she fondly remembers helping the teachers come up with creative tasty ways to teach math. All it takes are graham crackers, fluffy buttercream icing and colorful candies to create math equations that kids love to learn.
September 2004 Kelley graduated with highest GPA and honors in Baking and Pastry from the Arts Institute of Seattle. Check out the photo album for pictures of her first chocolate sculpture called "Swimming in Chocolate". It's a 25 pound chocolate masterpiece that she considers the highlight of her educationalexperience.
You can find her on the class schedule teaching Cake, Pastry and Chocolate workshops at Sizzleworks cooking school in Bellevue, WA. She is actively involved in the food trade show industry giving cake education and decorating demonstrations and has even worked as a Food Stylist for Martin Yan's latest television series and cookbook. Check out her accolades for her latest adventures in the food world. Kelley says, "There's no greater joy then to share my passion for creative dessert with people that are hungry to learn."
Available, by appointment only, for creative consultation and design ideas, Kelley will create decadent cakes, chocolates and pastries with unique flavor combinations that are masterfully finished with her artistic creative personal touch. She is always ready to take on a challenge to create a 3-D sculptured cake masterpiece.
It's not just dessert... It's a memory that will last a life time.
Thanks Kelly, The Valentine piece was a requirement for class and took students approximately 6-8 hours to complete. The base for the piece was created a week before so it had time to dry. The rock and roll piece was for a Food Network Challenge and the rest were either competition pieces for ACF D category or just for school events.

chef alaa,
Sorry, for some reason I thought you had problems with your shoulder not elbow. But I'm glad to hear you are on the road to recovery. Make sure you take the full amount of time to recover so you don't do any damage to it. There is a woman that works ocassionally at the Cake Walk (the little shop where I teach sometimes) that is having her shoulder done for the 4th time this next week. (maybe that's why I thought it was your shoulder) She does too much too soon because she's so used to being active and doing for everyone that she doesn't let it heal properly. I know what a helpful person you are and how you want to do for others and be normal and not a burden, but make sure you don't do before you're really ready or I'll have to come find you! LOL! Seriously though, I know how hard it is to be idle when you're itching to do more. Don't worry about returning much mail back, I understand. Just get better. Take care.
Hi girlfriend! Glad to see you here! I so miss seeing you and working with you. Did you happen to go to Nora's memorial at the Convention center? I didn't hear about it until the day before and I had my littlest grandson most of the day and couldn't go. How the shoulder? Hope to talk to you more. Lois
