Hi everyone, it's that time of year again... I'm starting the staffing for this year's World Pastry Forum and World Pastry Championship. If you've helped before, you're welcome back again, of course! We have some "alumni" who have participated in one capacity or another for the last 10 years! Bring your friends! As always, the early-bird-catches-the worm. The "key" slots are the first to be assigned. And it's started already...
FORUM
If you've always wanted to help one of the Forum chefs during their set-up and 5-days of classes, and you have some level of pastry experience and are available the entire time -- let me know ASAP! I have some people returning from last year... This is the best opportunity to really learn a subject well, working on-on-one with a master chef. Please note: for the Forum assistants, we need experienced pastry chefs to help as well as student/recent graduate types. It takes both to make a class successful.
COMPETITION
If you've got the competition bug, one of the best ways to give yourself exposure is to help us on the competition floor during the 2 days of the championship. The "server" slots are very popular and fill up fast. You get to see exactly what's going on in each of the kitchens as you help bring the food to the judges. When you get a close up of the equipment/organization, details on the food -- you really can teach yourself a lot of "what to do, what not to do" as you plan for your own competition. A "world" year is fantastic -- usually new techniques are invented by some nation or other. You'll get to see it first; no waiting for the magazines or TV shows to be edited!
GENERAL
If you just want to join in and be there for the fun of the event -- we need you too! We have many positions where we need friendly office helpers, badge checkers, ticket sellers, etc. All are welcome and I will find the perfect job for you based on your availability during the event.
You don't have to be available the entire timeframe, but we do start in late June and don't finish the packing until around 7/8. Start spreading the word. Bring your friends, and we'll see you in Phoenix.
